Medicare Basics overview.

It is important to understand what Medicare covers and what it does not.

Medicare is the health insurance plan for U.S. senior citizens age 65 and older and those who qualify due to certain medical conditions.  Part A and Part B make up what is called Original Medicare.

Part A comes at no cost to all seniors who paid into Social Security for a minimum of 10 years.  Part B involves a monthly premium that's usually automatically taken out of monthly Social Security payments.

Are You Ready to Apply for Medicare Part B?

Medicare Part C: Medicare Advantage Plans

Medicare Advantage plans offer a replacement of Original Medicare Parts A and B.

Medicare Advantage plans have low or even zero-dollar monthly premiums but there may be considerable co-pays and/or co-insurance as you use the plan services.

Medicare Part D: Prescription Drug Plans

Prescriptions plans can be confusing and there are many to choose from each year.

Because plans change every year, annual reviews are recommended.  Ask an expert at 1-800-370-3889.
